Hi! I haven't written an essay yet because I joined OkCupid very recently. This space is where I'll express myself soon though. If you'd like to know more about me, please send me a message. This is the default essay OkCupid fills in for new users who haven't written about themselves yet.

What to write? It says write a few sentences about yourself. Well, here goes. I'm rather overweight, but I'm told I carry it well. I'm about six feet tall, and I shave my head cause I hate my hair. I wear glasses for to see things properly, and I'm a geek. I love TV, movies, cartoons, having fun, sex, giving back rubs, playing video games, music, writing, drawing, and well, lots of other things I probably don't even know to mention. I cook. I clean. Well, I clean more than the average person, but let's face it, I'm a guy. There's bound to be dirty underwear on the floor. I DO write and draw quite a bit. They're my passions. I love stories, and making them up. I'm kind of a homebody, but I can go out under the right circumstances, and love to hang out with my few, but very close friends. WARNING. I play video games, AND role play. I have even gone so far as to make my very own role playing Universe based on the D20/ D&D 4.0rules. I've got my own world, maps, Pantheon, races and classes. That's how much of a geek I am.

My name is Matt and I'm almost 24 years old. I live in a small town and i have lots of friends from the surrounding area. I am the bass player for a metal band called Praying For Disaster. I'm 28, and for the past nearly two years I've worked as an ambulance dispatcher for a private ambulance company. In my free time I like to spend the money I make from work on random things. Mostly electronics, cds, dvds, books, games, and maybe the occasional drink. I have been to the southernmost city in the world amd seen the tallest mountain in America. I have surfed on the coast at Byron Bay and gone snorkeling in Fiji. I once went on a crusade to save the spiny rice flower of Victoria, surveying over 21,000 specimens. I have studied the mating habits of the eastern barred bandicoot; trapping, cataloguing, and releasing them in the summer of '05. I was once homeless on the streets of Cordoba and the cities near there for a month, only having planned to backpack through the region for three days. I am an olympic medalist and I hate baseball. This is but a limited self description but what can one do on a simple website.

I am a caring person. It usually takes a lot to make me mad. For the most part I think I have found out who I am, and I am not changing for anyone. So if that is your goal find someone else. I'm really into music and art. I like finding ways of expressing myself through creating. I like anime and video games too. I can be a dork. So apparently I haven't updated this in ages, and it's long overdue for a change. There's really not a whole lot that's different, unfortunately; I'm still working...a lot....and still in Ames.

I love to be outdoors whether its camping or just going for a nice walk. I like to play cards and board games and go on random road trips. I also love to bowl and hang out with my family. I just moved to Iowa in Aug 09 to start a teaching job (my first real job) at a university. Oh a summary eh? Well, while I would recommend you actually chat with me to find out what I'm all about, I'll provide some sort of sample.

I'm a big fan of getting out and doing activities. And by activities I mean things like going out with friends on the weekend, board games, athletic activities, activities on campus and in the area, or anything else. Unfortunately there's this thing called "school" (I'm at ISU) that really limits time to do said activities.

Time and money constraints make them too rare, but one of my absolute favs is taking trips to random destinations. Now, due to the fact that traveling during Iowa winters is so "awesome" and I've got classes to worry about, I've not done any recently. But, trips would pretty much be the perfect thing to do every weekend of an entire summer, and I did travel a lot last summer.

Not gonna lie, I'm definitely more talkative around people I know. On the other hand that rule may or may not start to fall apart on some weekends :).

You'll find I've got a sarcastic sense of humor. It doesn't show up all the time but if you're apt to provoke it, it can be pretty awesome

I'm a young guy starting his career. I have similar interests as most guys my age. I feel like I have things in my life pretty well put together and off to a great future other than getting lonely way more often than I'd like. Other than that, I'd like to bring up a few things I think are unique about my personality.

I like to try to fully understand things, people, ideas, pretty much everything. I tend to not judge things too soon and consider many possibilities. If I have a strong opinion on something, get frustrated, or get annoyed by something, you will probably notice, but I'm generally pretty gentle and respectful with people whether they deserve it or not. People that know me tend to feel very comfortable sharing with me because they know they can trust me. If you've read this far, you have probably noticed that I spend a lot of time just thinking and tend to talk about deeper things. I also tend to struggle a bit with surface conversation since I'd rather cut straight to deeper conversation. It's tough to find people I can do that with, but I'm hoping to find more people I can have that sort of connection with. I really enjoy going out, having fun and being social, but I'm happiest hanging out in smaller groups and with closer friends.

Finally, I am quirky. I love novelty, and I dislike excessive seriousness. I've been known to do completely random things simply to see what happens (within reason, of course). I find that it's easier to be happy and find justification for my happiness than to allow circumstances to dictate my happiness and spend my life in perpetual pursuit of more favorable circumstances.

I enjoy a good film, and horrible ones. A good film can inspire you, allow you to explore things you hadn't. A horrible film, in the right mindset, can frequently be a good laugh. Some... are beyond redemption.

All of that aside there isn't anything I enjoy more than a good conversation. A good conversation can be so many things. It can be catching up between old friends. Hm... Well I guess I'll start by saying no I don't think I'm a princess. I just think that (if anyone remembers the show) Zena was tough but had a soft side, could kick ass or sit back & relax... I can be girly but I definitely don't mind getting dirty. Someday I will be rebuilding my car (motor & all - for the 2nd time). I've also been up to my armpit in a sow's... ok we won't go there LOL. I'm 21 and go to Iowa State for Criminal Justice and plan on becoming a Police officer. I am part of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and absolutely love it. Hi! I'm a graduate student working towards a PhD in history. I've been single my whole life, though not by choice. I like being with friends, though most are fellow grad students and spare time is at a minimum. I have a pretty weird sense of humor, largely due to watching too many episodes of the Simpsons. I enjoy music (mostly alternative rock, though I also enjoy other genres) and art (I do some drawing and painting when I have time). Yes, not only am I a dancer but my name is Katie face Lynn book Elsbernd. I have traveled the world, I have lived in many places: most recently New York City: (BROOKLYN!), Paris, Washington D. C., and I have had amazing experiences, good and bad, that have only made me a better, stronger person. I graduated from ISU magna cum laude with a double degree in Math and French. I am certified to teach high school Math and French, though I currently teach Math as that is more in demand. AFter I graduated from ISU in fall 2007, I moved to New York City (Brooklyn - Represent BK!) and subbed in inner city high schools and tutored in some rough neighborhoods, mostly in Brooklyn. Believe me, I have seen a lot and been in some tough situations. I liked hip hop before, like it even more now that the kids I taught in Harlem caught me up on how they dance hip hop. I also worked at Prada Corporate HQ but not in sales, instead with computers b/c I had a good background in that area...it was a secured area and I worked on the same floor as the CEO. I would describe myself as living for a A and striving to be the best runner (long distance/competitive) my whole life until I lived in Washington, D. C. doing research for the government, which is when I started clubbing and finding out that boys liked me and I thought they were worth my time (for once).

I am not a spectator, I love to PLAY sports, any type. My #1 hobby is dancing: I take lessons and perform Belly Dance, salsa (love to go out salsa dancing), ballroom, swing, HIP HOP, and many others. I really have tried every type of dance but ballet and Irish step dance (which are next on my list to learn after pole dancing).

If the guy I meet doesn't dance, it doesn't bother me, as long as he is willing to try, but if he doesn't want to, I won't push him, though he may want to to keep after me.... I coach a dance team and was training to be a salsa instructor in NYC, until I moved to Paris to teach math in the French language as part of a Fulbright program.

I would describe myself as intelligent, daring, spontaneous, and I LOVE TO travel - I have Europe down and Asia is next. I am also very physical - touch, hug...etc.

I have skydived in the Swiss Alps and plan to go base diving (jumping off of buildings) with my younger sister. I come from a large farm family and am very close to them, though I rarely see them: for sisters, 2 live in NY (1 an architect in NYC, other goes to a basically IVY league school upstate), another in Colorado where the husband is a semi-pro down hill mountain biker. Brother in Wisconsin. I come from a family of very successful, smart, hard working people. (Though we do go out and party hard when we get together)

I get up everyday and do the best I can. I will try anything (as long as I don't break a law). I work hard and then love to have fun.

I love to have a good time. I enjoy activities and time to myself. I'm fairly quiet, but have my own opinion. I speak my mind only when I have to. I'm simple. I won't pull your chain. I'm honest, and don't care to lie. Logic seems ethical, and I would base most of my decisions on how I feel, but It doesn't hurt to do your research. I act like a kid. I joke around. I don't take to much seriously. I'm a hard worker, and loyal to my friends. I don't expect much from others, and I don't care to impress anyone. Everything I do. I do it to benefit myself. I believe exercise is important, and my health is equally important. I do crazy things now and again, but I like the feel of crazy. I try not to take life to seriously these days, because I'd rather be happy and poor than rich and miserable. Money is nice to have though. I hope to make a lot one day. Its not a priority, but its nice to have some. I am laid back and enjoy the small things in life. My friend once told me. Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things.
