I'm 28, and for the past nearly two years I've worked as an ambulance dispatcher for a private ambulance company. In my free time I like to spend the money I make from work on random things. What to write? It says write a few sentences about yourself. Well, here goes. I'm rather overweight, but I'm told I carry it well. I'm about six feet tall, and I shave my head cause I hate my hair. I wear glasses for to see things properly, and I'm a geek. I love TV, movies, cartoons, having fun, sex, giving back rubs, playing video games, music, writing, drawing, and well, lots of other things I probably don't even know to mention. I cook. I clean. I grew up in a farmhouse in Illinois that my mom grew up in, and her dad grew up in. Now I live in Ames so I can work on getting a degree, but I could see myself living back in the country in the future. When I'm not busy, I like to go disc golfing in one of the two courses in Ames, or just play my keyboard. Each summer I manage to go to a few outdoor camping music festivals, and sometimes we have our own little fests at my Grandma's property in Illinois. Yes, not only am I a dancer but my name is Katie face Lynn book Elsbernd. I have traveled the world, I have lived in many places: most recently New York City: (BROOKLYN!), Paris, Washington D. C., and I have had amazing experiences, good and bad, that have only made me a better, stronger person. I graduated from ISU magna cum laude with a double degree in Math and French. I am certified to teach high school Math and French, though I currently teach Math as that is more in demand. AFter I graduated from ISU in fall 2007, I moved to New York City (Brooklyn - Represent BK!) and subbed in inner city high schools and tutored in some rough neighborhoods, mostly in Brooklyn. Believe me, I have seen a lot and been in some tough situations. I liked hip hop before, like it even more now that the kids I taught in Harlem caught me up on how they dance hip hop. I also worked at Prada Corporate HQ but not in sales, instead with computers b/c I had a good background in that area...it was a secured area and I worked on the same floor as the CEO. I would describe myself as living for a A and striving to be the best runner (long distance/competitive) my whole life until I lived in Washington, D. C. doing research for the government, which is when I started clubbing and finding out that boys liked me and I thought they were worth my time (for once).

I am not a spectator, I love to PLAY sports, any type. My #1 hobby is dancing: I take lessons and perform Belly Dance, salsa (love to go out salsa dancing), ballroom, swing, HIP HOP, and many others. I really have tried every type of dance but ballet and Irish step dance (which are next on my list to learn after pole dancing).

If the guy I meet doesn't dance, it doesn't bother me, as long as he is willing to try, but if he doesn't want to, I won't push him, though he may want to to keep after me.... I coach a dance team and was training to be a salsa instructor in NYC, until I moved to Paris to teach math in the French language as part of a Fulbright program.

I grew up out in the country. I have a substantially pagan mother. I now live in town, and I, myself, do not consider myself pagan, but I still have a feeling that many of my philosophies are found strange by most people.

For example: Watch, Wait, Listen, and Learn. this has served me well. It sometimes takes me a very long time to get the hang of some concept, but once I know it, I know it forever.

Also-I've gotten very good at sorting out what I need- physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. It doesn't hurt that I grew up not Quite dirt poor. Growing up, I can't say that I ever lacked for the things I needed, though I certainly know what it is to do with out the things I merely want. When you have to choose only what is most important, you quickly learn what you can't do without. Hm... or at least, I do.

Also: a bit from the Sarah Douglas book: Beyond the Hanging Wall. There is a place where the true prince must correctly answer a riddle. Basically, this riddle asks what a woman would do who has nothing left, nothing more to lose, and no hope for anything but death. He answers correctly that she laughs. When there is nothing, when all hope is gone, Laugh. DARE to laugh. DARE to be happy, and spread happiness. Dare to Live. I Dare. Do you?

Where it concerns spirituality and religion, I'm most familiar with paganism. this isn't to say that I know terribly much about it. just that I'm most familiar with it. I don't know much at all about any other organized religion. As a result, though I'm very spiritual, I'm not sure that i would call myself religious.

That does remind me of another philosophy, though. as long as you aren't causing harm, it doesn't matter what you do... or as my mother used to say, "Do as you will, and it harm none."

Truth. that's another point. I find gratification in truth. which isn't to say that I'm always truthful, or that I expect others to always be truthful. I just like knowing What Is. That which Is, Is. That which Is Not, Is Not. I often dislike saying that things Are True, or Are Not True, because many times, I'm not one hundred percent sure. I will not say that there Is a god/great spirit/higher power, but I also will not say that there Is Not. I want to believe that there is a Pattern, but I don't know that there is. as a result, I do my best to operate under the assumption that most things may or may not be true.

Paradoxes (sp?) can amuse me for hours.

I am the kind of guy that loves to take chances, even if I fail. I am a driven guy who is willing to go the extra mile for his friends and family. Whether that is writing a song, performing a play, going to a comedy club, or going to church. I think humor is one of the best things I can provide to a relationship. Relationships should be playful, fun, and above all else something that holds extreme value to me. I want a woman who is willing to go on an adventure and learn something about me as well as herself. Hi! I'm a graduate student working towards a PhD in history. I've been single my whole life, though not by choice. I like being with friends, though most are fellow grad students and spare time is at a minimum. I have a pretty weird sense of humor, largely due to watching too many episodes of the Simpsons. I enjoy music (mostly alternative rock, though I also enjoy other genres) and art (I do some drawing and painting when I have time). I also enjoy cooking for myself and friends (and I'm a semi-vegetarian, but tolerant). Movies are another passion; anything from classics, to foreign, to mainstream - as long as an effort was put into it. I'm slowly fixing up an old house I bought (cheaper than rent!) and I also make furniture (when I have time! - again!). I have three cats that I rescued, and they supply endless entertainment/destruction of upolstery.

I am secure with myself in most and not in others, like most people. I find myself hilarious. I am usually fun to be around and have a high energy. I'm picky and easily annoyed. I'm not entirely sure what to put down here. I'm currently living in Ames working and taking time away from school. I plan on going to law school but time away from school was just the thing for me at this point.

I enjoy a good film, and horrible ones. A good film can inspire you, allow you to explore things you hadn't. A horrible film, in the right mindset, can frequently be a good laugh. Some... are beyond redemption.

I love to read, but don't enough. I'm particularly fond of the writings of Issac Asimov.

All of that aside there isn't anything I enjoy more than a good conversation. A good conversation can be so many things. It can be catching up between old friends. It can be rehashing the days events with current ones. It can be a vigorous discussion of beliefs and ideas both between those you don't agree with and those who you do.

I'm a Humanist, essentially it means I hold the golden rule in high regard.

I'm a peculiar kind of shy extrovert. I can take a while to ease myself into a situation, once I have though I'm afraid sometimes I don't shut up soon enough.

I'm 21 and go to Iowa State for Criminal Justice and plan on becoming a Police officer. I am part of the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity and absolutely love it. Couldn't ask for better roommates or brothers. I love to draw and play guitar and hang out on the weekends. I love to grill and cook. When i am not in Ames I'm back home in Clear lake ripping it up on the lake wakeboarding and chilling with my friends.I have a large teddy bear personality and I like to have fun and am very spontaneous and love to laugh and have a good time. I grew up religious but have leaned to more of an open idea on life and its workings. I love to analyze things and see how things work. I am ambitious and tend to do some crazy things at times but nothing that will put my future in jeopardy.

I do not have it all figured out nor claim to. I cannot promise that I have been perfect or never needed second chances, but I will always love you more than myself.
